I recently finished playing Ace Attorney Investigations for the Nintendo DS and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I am a fan of the Ace Attorney franchise, in which you play as a defense attorney whose job it is to defend his client. What makes this series fun is the wacky environments and charming characters you encounter along the way, while the game still maintains an overarching narrative that almost always has a satisfying payoff.

Because of how essential the story is to the enjoyment of the game, I am going to do my best to avoid any spoilers of the game’s content. I will do so by not really talking about the game at all and instead telling you about various esoteric things around my playing and enjoying of this game, because I would have to explain the three games that take place before this and that’s something neither of us are really interested in scrolling through.
I really enjoyed the game’s soundtrack. So much, in fact, that I went and looked up the music composer and it turns out he went on to make a lot of arrangements for the Super Smash Bros. series, which makes a lot of sense to me. Not just in that he’s very talented, but I think I could see it in the music? I’m not a music expert by any means so I might just be imagining things.

When I was looking for this game in order to play it, it was only available on the Nintendo DS, so I had to scour retro game shops to try and find a copy. Realizing that the Nintendo DS is considered a retro console made me feel old. DAYS after I found it and bought it, the company behind the game announced they were remastering the game for PCs. I didn’t even play the game for a year after buying it. I could have saved so much time.
My favorite case of the game is the last one. This will not mean anything to you, because I have not told you how many cases are in this game or what any of them are about. I just wanted to say that.
Overall, this game is pretty good. I would give it a 7/10. There are probably better games in the series. I appreciate you if you actually took the time to read this.
